CISPA Incubator Advisory Board Meeting

For the first time this year, the „CISPA Incubator Advisory Board“ met in Saarbrücken.

After a brief review of activities in 2018, the board discussed upcoming events and challenges of startups at CISPA - Helmholtz Center for Information Security in 2019. The incubator team provided a comprising insight into the operational work as well as ongoing entrepreneurial projects at the center. Moreover, the board members - Sven Weizenegger, Dr. Mathias Bauer, and Philipp von Styp-Rekowsky - got an overview about several future concepts of „CISPA Incubator“ and were able to state their opinions about planned approaches.

Furthermore, the meeting provided an opportunity for selected startup teams to pitch their business ideas in front of the well-experienced board members. After a short presentation, every team had to face critical questions from the audience. These mostly covered technological issues and market entry strategies of the arising business models. Although there is no doubt that IT security is a growing future market, the technology-focused teams seized the opportunity to profit from in-depth market insights of the serial entrepreneurs.

In close cooperation with its partners, the „CISPA Incubator“ aims at fostering entrepreneurial initiatives within the encompassing spectrum of privacy and cybersecurity as a transversal issue in science, society and economy. Startups and tinkerers are provided with the best preconditions at the melting pot of academia and marketable solutions.

Our best thanks to our highly qualified and experienced board members:

  • Sven Weizenegger, Co-Founder at suza.io and spokesman of Cyber Sec at German Startups Association
  • Dr. Mathias Bauer, Founder at KIANA Systems and Co-Head of Advanced Analytics at KPMG
  • Philipp von Styp-Rekowsky, Founder at Nimiq.
